PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - The names of two people killed in a deadly Paragould house fire on Sunday have been released.
According to Paragould Fire Marshal Chris Rollings, the two people are identified as Albert Wrobel, 87, and Shari Poindexter, 62.
Around 8 p.m. Jan. 10, firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Newcastle Drive.
Ambulances were also called to the scene. Both victims were transported to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and pronounced dead upon arrival.
Within 24 hours, a PFD responded to a second fire on Mockingbird Lane. At 2:49 a.m. on Monday, two people got out of the flames alive.
“Both occupants were notified by their smoke alarm and were able to escape without injury,” Rollings said.
Cortney Lee and Brittany Hobbs survived but the family dog did not.
On PFD’s Facebook page, they’re collecting clothing donations for the family.
“It really hits home, not only for firefighters but the community members who actually see this going on,” he said. “Our heart goes out to them. We do all we can to prevent this. The best protection you can have in a home is a smoke alarm, a working smoke alarm.”
Chief Kevin Lang and Rollings told Region 8 News on Monday the cause of the fires is under investigation.
