Driver airlifted after crash with semi

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A driver of a car was extricated and airlifted to a Memphis hospital after a Wednesday evening crash involving an 18-wheeler at East Highland Drive and Commerce Drive, according to Jonesboro police.

Jonesboro Police Public Information Specialist Sally Smith says dispatch received the call about a crash involving an 18-wheeler and passenger car around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Smith says the 18-wheeler was traveling west on East Highland Drive and merged into the center lane to turn left onto Commerce Drive and failed to yield the right of way to the car traveling east on Highland.

As of 8 p.m. Wednesday, the road is back open.
