JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - In addition to battling flames early Monday morning, Blytheville firefighters braved freezing temperatures.

Just before 3:30 a.m. crews responded to a house fire on West Pecan Street, according to a social media post.

Upon arriving, they found a “heavy fire” in the attic.

“As crews were battling the fire inside, they were also battling the elements outside,” the Blytheville Fire Department reported.

According to the post, the temperature was 8 degrees with a wind chill of -11.

“Another hydrant was quickly located down the street and the backup engine was able to shuttle water to the lead engine,” BFD said.

Crews managed to knock down the fire and return to service just before 6 a.m.
