Tuesday Traffic Alert: Black ice making roads ‘treacherous’

Road conditions at 5:30 a.m.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The snow may have stopped in Region 8, but officials say roads remain “slick and treacherous.”

Jeff Presley, Jonesboro & Craighead County E911 director, said Tuesday morning that some main roads will have clear lanes with areas of black ice.

“Most side streets will be snow-packed and slick,” he said. “If you must be out use extreme caution.”

Should motorists become stalled, he advises they stay in their vehicles and call 911.

Jonesboro’s Transit System (JET) suspended Tuesday’s bus service due to the “dangerous weather conditions.” According to a social media post, service would resume “as soon as conditions permit.”
