Elks Lodge gives away 20 boxes of food to veterans

Elk's Lodge gives helps veterans

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Elks Lodge on Wednesday distributed food boxes to veterans.

Twenty boxes were given out. They also gave out clothes, homeless bags, and toiletries.

The chairman of the Veteran’s Committee, Lee Heagwood, says vets need the help now more than ever. The pandemic has made financial situations hard.

“It’s always important to honor our veterans. This is just a small way. We wish we could do more, maybe next year we can. We do all we can. We’re always looking for veterans, looking for homeless veterans. It’s a good feeling to help,” said Heagwood.

The Elks Lodge distributes food every first and second Wednesday of the month, and the Jonesboro VFW Post 1991 does it every second and fourth Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

You will need a military ID.
