SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Sikeston rodeo organizers will announce the entertainment lineup at noon on Friday, March 19.

Organizers for the 69th annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo say they will host the event August 11-14.

John Leible with the Sikeston Rodeo Board said Friday was an exciting start to the rodeo season.

“We’re very excited. Last year was kind of a difficult year to get through; and, you know, this year, while there’s still some challenges, it seems to be a little more normal,” he said. “And this is really our first big event to kick off our rodeo season. So, you know we’ve been working on all winter ever since rodeo ended last year. We’ve been working toward this day to get a really good lineup, really good entertainment lineup, really good rodeo presentation and we’re excited to get the word out and really get the ball rolling on the season.”

Leible said this might be one of the biggest rodeos operating this year.

Unlike the state fair, the Jaycees did hold the Sikeston rodeo in 2020 with some safety precautions in place.

However, many of the singers canceled due to the pandemic and organizers had to find replacements.
