Body sent to crime lab as police continue investigation into ‘suspicious death’

NEWPORT, Ark. (KAIT) - A body found earlier this week in Newport has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock to help determine the cause of death, officials said Wednesday.

Police are still investigating what they call a “suspicious death” after a body was found inside an apartment.

Officers discovered the body just before noon Tuesday, May 4, in the Harmony Homes Apartments.

Chief Allen Edwards said the body was also sent to the crime lab in Little Rock to confirm the identity.

He added that Arkansas State Police are assisting in the investigation.
