CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A fiery crash Saturday night near Bono injured one person and left another dead.

According to a preliminary fatality report from Arkansas State Police, the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. May 22 on U.S. Highway 63 at Craighead County Road 118.

A minor was southbound when their Chevy Silverado crossed the center turn lane and into the path of a northbound 2015 International tractor-trailer driven by Damon Turner, 44, of Memphis, striking it head-on.

Both vehicles burst into flames immediately upon impact, ASP stated.

The minor’s name was not released due to their age.

Turner was taken to a Jonesboro hospital with unspecified injuries.

Crews spent several hours clearing the highway. According to IDrive Arkansas, all lanes of traffic were reopened by early Sunday morning.
