Funeral services announced for deputy killed in crash
INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A sea of blue escorted home the body of an Independence County sheriff’s deputy killed early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash.
Patrol Deputy Frank Ramirez, Jr., 29, of Batesville was eastbound on State Highway 14 around 12:50 a.m. Nov. 18 when he lost control of his 2018 Dodge Charger on a curve, Arkansas State Police said.
Ramirez’s patrol car left the roadway, struck a culvert on the driver’s side, and became airborne. The car overturned before coming to a final rest on its top.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.
Thursday evening, officers escorted his body back to Batesville for his funeral.

Ramirez’s funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in the Independence Hall Auditorium at UACCB, 2005 White Dr. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 22, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for family members only, followed by a public visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, 510 East College St. in Batesville.
He is survived by his wife Adhsiris Martinez Ramirez and two children, Adrik Ramirez and Analii Ramirez.
To honor Ramirez, Gov. Asa Hutchinson ordered the United States and Arkansas flags in the state flown at half-staff.
