JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Jonesboro police say a 15-year-old is in custody following a Monday night fatal shooting.

Just after 9 p.m. April 18, officers responded to a home in the 1500-block of French Street where they found a 17-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

An ambulance took the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

According to a Tuesday news release from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers began searching for the 15-year-old suspect.

In a probable cause affidavit, police said Bryan Toledo had shot the victim and left before officers got to the scene.

Investigators found that the victim and Toledo were back in the den when a shot was fired.

The victim then came out to the living room and collapsed.

Around 2 a.m. April 19, he turned himself in at the police station on Caraway Road.

Toledo told investigators there were three guns.

He took the magazine from his gun, cleared the weapon, and then fired, hitting the victim in the chest.

“There was some discrepancy in his story versus what was located at the crime scene by detectives,” the affidavit stated.

Detectives have yet to find the gun Toledo described in his statement.

He faces a felony battery charge but that charge could be amended.

His bond is set at $500,000 and he’s due back in court on May 27.

According to the initial incident report, the suspect faces charges of first-degree murder and a juvenile probation violation.

Region 8 News will continue to gather more information on this developing story.
