Grizzlies make pair of draft night trades, pick 2 in 1st round
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Grizzlies used their two first-round picks to move up in the draft Thursday night.
Memphis traded picks 22 and 29 to Minnesota to land pick 19, ESPN reports.
With that pick, the Grizzlies selected Wake Forest Forward Jake LaRavia.
LaRavia played one season at Wake Forest after two seasons at Indiana State.
The 6′8 junior earned second team All-ACC honors, averaging 14.6 points and 6.6 rebounds for the 2021-22 season.
The Grizzlies also moved back into the first round in a trade with Philadelphia that sent De’Anthony Melton to the 76ers.
The Grizzlies received Danny Green and pick 23 in the trade; Green suffered a devastating knee injury in the playoffs and may not play in the 2022-23 season.
With pick 23, the Grizz selected 6′6 David Roddy from Colorado State.
Roddy was an honorable mention AP All-American with the Rams, averaging over 19 points per game.
