2 dead, another injured in Marianna shooting

MARIANNA, Ark. (WMC) - Two victims are dead and another is injured in a shooting in Marianna, Arkansas, on Saturday afternoon, according to Lee County Coroner Kevin Caffey.

The shooting happened around 3:00 p.m. at the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Florida Street.

Action News 5 was told by neighbors in the area that investigators were out on the scene for hours.

One resident who did not want to go on camera said that he didn’t hear the gunshots when it happened but was hopeful the victims’ lives could have been saved.

“I don’t know what happened, but I just know― somebody could’ve got help and the police was just standing around blocking off the scene. They could’ve helped that guy,” said a Marianna, Arkansas, resident.

According to Caffey, this is the first gun violence incident to happen in Marianna for the year.

There is still no information on what led up to the shooting.
