New law requires Ten Commandments be displayed in classrooms
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a bill into law requiring the posting of religious displays in taxpayer-funded classrooms.
Under Senate Bill 433, classrooms and public buildings funded by taxpayers must display the Ten Commandments and the United States national motto, “In God We Trust,” in a conspicuous location.
The required display text of the Ten Commandments resembles a slightly abbreviated version of Exodus 20 of the King James Version of the Bible. It uses the older English wording commonly associated with the imperatives, such as “thou shalt.”
The posters can be donated to institutions or purchased through voluntary donations to the schools or the governing entity.
