Jackson County officer won't face charges for shooting man

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - A Jackson County Sheriff's deputy who shot and killed a man Saturday night will not face charges.

Jackson County deputies and an Arkansas State Trooper were called to a domestic disturbance near Turckerman Saturday night when they found William Morrison armed with a gun.

According to police, Morrison refused to drop the gun, and pointed it at the officers. One officer then shot Morrison, who died at the scene.

The officer was placed on paid administrative leave as procedure.
