Students With Disabilities Perform Martial Arts

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - A southeastern Missouri tae kwon do teacher is helping students with disabilities practice martial arts.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Alan Williams works with 9-year-old Alexis Johnson, who started wearing leg braces when she was just 18 months old due to cerebral palsy.

She takes the braces off for practice as part of her treatment. The Oak Ridge Outerlimits martial arts school works to give students a new outlook on their treatment.

Johnson already has better balance and flexibility. --- Information from: Southeast Missourian,
