Police: school on lock down after gun reported on campus

SIKESTON, MO (KAIT) – A Sikeston school had to be locked down after students say they saw 2 kids passing a gun in school.

According to Sikeston Police, 2 students passed an unloaded bb gun at the Sikeston 7th & 8th Grade Center. Observing students told school officials, and the school was put on lock down while the resource officer investigated.

The school was on lock down for about 15 minutes.

The district sent out an automated call to parents explaining what happened.

No one was hurt, and the students have been suspended for about 10 days.
