LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Mayors of the tiny east Arkansas towns of Jericho and Sunset will be summoned by subpoena to appear before the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee after they failed to show up for meetings they had been asked to attend.

The committee voted Friday to issue subpoenas for Jericho Mayor Helen Adams and Sunsdet Mayor Kirby Massey had been asked to appear before the panel to answer questions about problems found by audits.

Deputy Legislative Auditor June Barron said the recorder-treasurers of both towns had also been asked to appear at committee meetings, but didn't show up. The panel's vote also approved subpoenas for those officials.

Jericho, population 184, and Sunset, with 348 people, both lie along Arkansas 177 north of the Crittenden County seat of Marion.
