INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) - Conservative icon Sarah Palin is headed to the Kansas City area Saturday for a daylong rally that also features several national political figures. The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. at the Independence Events Center.

The "Winning America Back" rally starts at 1 p.m. and features former GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson and former Congressman J.C. Watts. The rally is sponsored by Preserving American Liberty, a Kansas City-area grass roots group.

Tickets are available at $50 for general admission and $75 for preferred seating. A $250 fee gets participants into a private reception with Palin along with floor seating.
