ST. LOUIS (AP) - Some motorists who use Interstate 44 in the St. Louis area say the roadway is dangerous and confusing since the Missouri Department of Transportation re-striped it.
MoDOT recently reduced the number of lanes on I-44 from five to four. The problem is that the old stripes are still visible, creating confusion for drivers. Some say it is difficult to tell the new stripes from the old ones.
MoDOT officials tell KTVI-TV that the situation is temporary. Later this month, crews will resurface I-44 and re-stripe it again, but this time on new, unmarked pavement.
