JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Ritter Communications broke ground to mark the beginning of construction to their new facility in Jonesboro.
This new headquarters will be 36 thousand square feet, contain more than 100 Ritter employees, and is "green"!
Green features will include an atrium design will utilize daylight resources, and a ground source heat pump and insulated panels will maximize energy efficiency.
President of Ritter Communications, Paul Waits, says this is an example to their long term commitment to the community they serve,
"When making the decision to rebuild our local headquarters, we considered several different options. Among those was to build a facility that reflects our overall goals as a company, which is to do right by our customers and community. The LEED certification is just another way for us to demonstrate our dedication to Jonesboro and to Northeast Arkansas."
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
This council began earlier this year between Paul Waits and architects Jerry Brackett and Jeff Herren of Brackett-Krennerich Architects.
Waits believes the construction of this facility marks an important milestone in Ritter's history and future in the area.
"The intention here is to demonstrate that we can create a sustainable structure without really spending any more money. There is a practical solution to sustainable and long term investment. Not only to the community, but the long term outcome for energy consumption as far as sustainability is concerned."
Waits says they hope others will follow their lead in the construction of environmental friendly facilities.
"We hope to set an example to Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas businesses and residents that being 'green' does not mean uneconomical or impractical. We are building a structure that will not only benefit our company, our customers and the community, but will lower our environmental impact and actually save resources, improving our overall bottom line. That type of investment is one we're willing to make in a growing community such as Jonesboro, and we look forward to being here for many years to come."
The new facility will be located on a seven acre plot of land and just off of Windover and Browns Lane.
