LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - The Arkansas Department of Higher Education is to announce how many students have been awarded lottery-funded college scholarships for the coming school year.
The application process didn't have the delays that many students experienced a year ago in learning whether they qualified for help with their tuition. The announcement is to come at Wednesday' meeting of the Arkansas Lottery Commission.
Last year, about 30,000 scholarships were awarded, with $5,000 for university students and $2,500 for community college students. Scholarships awarded for this fall will be for 10% less - $4,500 for university students and $2,250 for students at community colleges.
The commission is also to get an update on progress being made to correct deficiencies outlined in a state audit.
