Moderate damage done to home on campus of Paragould Children’s Home

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Paragould Firefighters have extinguished a fire at one of the homes at the Paragould Children's Home.

According to Director of Public Relations for the Paragould Children's Home Terry Austin, two people were inside the home at the time the fire started. Both were able to make it out safe and no other injuries have been reported.

The home where the fire started was one of nine homes on the campus. According to Austin, the fire started in the bathroom and then spread through the attic area and into a bedroom before firefighters could contain the fire.

Firefighters got the call around 4:15 Thursday afternoon of a structure fire at one of the homes. When crews arrived, smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Five to seven people will be displaced by the fire.  They will stay in an empty house on campus.
