LITTLE ROCK, AR - State attorney general Mike Beebe is warning consumers about an e-mail scam that he says falsely threatens action from police agencies.

Beebe said the e-mail is really just a ploy to get consumers to release their bank account numbers and other financial information.

The e-mail looks to be from the federal Department of Homeland Security and claims that Director Tom Ridge has advised the FDIC to suspend all deposit insurance in that recipient's account.

Beebe said no government agency is sending the e-mail.  He said Arkansans shouldn't click on the link the e-mail provides or release any of their personal information.
