JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The American Red Cross has receivedfewer blood donations this summer, so a local church youth group has pitched into help.

Jessica Wallace, a high school senior, coordinated the eventthis year, and she now has a chance to win a $3,000 scholarship.

She, however, says something else motivates her to getinvolved.

"I can't not give," Wallace said. "I have to because I keepthinking of that cancer patient or that premature baby that needs my blood, andhere I am keeping it."

Blood donors between ages 16 to 21 could also enter to win ascholarship worth $3,000 to $5,000. For everyone else who donated, they too hada chance to win something – a Gibson guitar from the Gibson Foundation.
