JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas Highway 226 reopened Saturday morning between Cash and state highway 349 near Jonesboro. The road was closed for nearly 18 hours as flood waters covered the roadway.

The section of road is currently undergoing a major construction project. The road is already the major connector between Jonesboro and U.S. 67 west of Cash.  Nearly four inches of rain in the area flooded ditches and covered the road.

Arkansas State Police also worked a head-on collision on Highway 226 Friday afternoon.

According to ASP, a pickup truck and semi hit almost head-on causing the semi truck to overturn into a flooded ditch. State police at the scene told Region 8 News the crash is under investigation.
