CHICAGO - Hundreds of mourners in Chicago today are remembering the wife of a stepson of a tour bus operator who both died in a deadly crash in Arkansas last weekend.
The funeral was held today for Marean Walters and John Hawkins, Sr. They were among 14 people killed Saturday when a bus crash on its way to a Mississippi casino.
Friends and family gathered at the Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. They spoke of Walters as a woman who loved her family and her church. Hawkins was remembered as a practical joker who was dedicated to his seven children.
Family member Latrice Walters said she never realized how many lives her mother and brother had touched.
More funerals are planned this weekend, including one for bus driver Herbert Walters, the brother of bus owner Roosevelt Walters.
