Baxter Co. man finds his stolen car while driving on the highway

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) –A man driving down the highway in Izard County got a startling surprise when hepaid close attention to the truck driving in front of him.

Baxter County Sheriff JohnMontgomery said the man realized the car mounted on the trailer in front of himwas his car. The car was supposed to be in a garage in Baxter County.

The owner of the carcalled the Izard County Sheriff's Department for help and followed the truckuntil it came to a complete stop.

Sheriff Montgomery says theowner confronted the man about his car, but waited for deputies to arrive tothe scene before he did anything else.

Danny Aubrey Sturgisadmitted to deputies he stole the car from the garage. He also told deputies hestole another car, a boat, and trailer.

Izard County deputieshanded Sturgis over to Baxter County and he was taken to the Baxter CountyDetention Center.

Sturgis was charged with aClass B Felony for theft of property, two counts of a Class C Felony for theftof property, and three counts of a Class D felony for breaking or entering.

Sturgis is in lieu of$10,000 bond and is set to appear in court.
