JONESBORO, AR - After months of campaigning, Jonesboro businessman Dan Pierce and police sergeant Doug Formon will be anxiously watching election returns tonight as Jonesboro voters go to the polls today to decide which of the two men will represent the city as its first new mayor in more than 15 years.

Formon was the top vote-getter in the November 2 general election, but he did not capture enough votes to avoid a run-off with Pierce.  Formon captured 42 percent of the city's popular vote, while Pierce garnered 36 percent.  Formon and Pierce separated themselves from the rest of the field in a seven-person race.

Meanwhile, voters will also decide run-off races for two Jonesboro City Council seats.  In the Ward 4, Position 2 alderman's race, Mitch Johnson is opposed by Don Mullenix.  In Ward 2, Position 6, Jimmy Ashley is opposed by Richard Carvell.
