Arkansas Air Pollution

The Federal Environmental Protection agency says Arkansas is one of 30 states that have met the agency's new standard for fine particle air pollution.

The EPA says that Arkansas had met the standard intended to make the air cleaner and healthier.

Fine particles are those less than 2 1/2 microns in diameter, about 1/30th the thickness of a human hair.

According to the EPA, such particles have been linked to serious human health problems, including heart and lung disease, bronchitis and asthma.
