PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 school is offering a new program to its students who may not go to college after receiving their high school diplomas.
The program is called 'Career Readiness.'
A class of high school students from Greene County Tech attend classes at Black River Technical College. The class prepares them for work at area industries after high school.
Paragould and Marmaduke High Schools are also involved in the program.
GCT Superintendent Jerry Noble said the type of instruction included in 'Career Readiness' is vital.
"It's very important because you know in the old days, industries were mainly assembly lines," Noble said. "It's not that way anymore. In fact you can't hardly go out there and get a job anymore, you need to have some skills."
Noble said they hope to add more classes next year.
