JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro crews put out a fire that started in the engine of an American Red Cross blood donation bus.

The fire started around 8:30 a.m. Friday when an employee started the bus on Grant Ave. As the employee was about to load the bus with supplies, the engine began to smoke and then burst into flames.

The fire was put out quickly and no injuries were reported.

Other vehicles and the Jonesboro Blood Donation Center were not damaged, according to a statement from the American Red Cross.

The group says the cause is being investigated.

"Red Cross blood drives across the area continue as planned today [Friday], and we will spend the next few days and weeks assessing what, if any, impact this will have on future scheduled blood drives," the statement read in part.

One bus remains active at the Grant Avenue Red Cross location.
