FRANKLIN, AR (KAIT) - An Izard County man died over the weekend following an accidental shooting.

Sheriff Lawrence Tate said in a news release Monday that 81-year-old Eulib George Bible was killed Saturday.

Officers were called that morning to a residence in Franklin in reference to Bible accidentally shooting himself.

Tate said the man was trying to exit the home on a walker while holding a gun in his right hand.

The man's wife told officers her husband "loved to shoot squirrels" and was attempting to open the outside kitchen door when he called to her for assistance.

Bible's wife said she was about four or five feet from her husband when the gun went off.

Bible was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner around 11:50 a.m.
