Jonesboro, AR - Several "Old School" Jonesboro High School athletes took on youngsters from the Jonesboro community in a 4 on 4 basketball tournament Saturday.

Some of the former JHS athletes needed new equipment like knee braces to get up and down the court. Those types of realities didn't deter them from playing in the 1st annual Old School/ New School Hurricane Classic. The event is a fundraiser for City Youth Ministries. At the same time the "Old School" players serve as mentors to the "New School" players.

"The reason why the old guys play is the really get Jonesboro involved. It takes everyone of us to really make a difference," said Jeremy Terrell, who helps sponsor the event.

"These days kids just run and do as they choose they don't have anyone to push them and bring them into manhood," said Lewis Davis, who played Football at JHS from 1985-1987.

The two generations go head to head in a 4 on 4 tournament. The the old school team has to play the best new school team for the championship.

The event raised over $ 1,000 for City Youth.
