JONESBORO, AR - A nine-year veteran of the Jonesboro Police Department will become the JPD's new assistant chief, effective Thursday.

JPD Chief Michael Yates today named Captain Timothy Eads to the position.  Eads will replace Assistant Chief Rusty Grigsby, who retired in June after serving more than 24 years with the department.

Eads has been with the JPD since 1985 and currently serves as Operations Captain.  He had been appointed by Mayor Doug Formon as the interim police chief since January 2005, and had recently resumed his captain's duties with the hiring of Yates.

The Assistant Chief rank is a command staff position which reports directly to the Chief of Police.

A promotion ceremony and reception for Eads is set for Thursday afternoon at 2 in the JPD training room.
