JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - In addition to taking back unwanted drugs this weekend, the Crowley's Ridge Development Council will be giving back.
Saturday, April 28, is National Take-Back Day. Law enforcement agencies across the United States will collect unwanted and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.
CRDC, 2401 Fox Meadow Lane, will hand out TimerCap bottles at many of these events, according to Dr. Lisa Perry, director of CRDC's prevention services.
"These bottles are great ways to monitor use of drugs," Perry said. "For those who may be forgetful, they can serve as reminders about when the medication was last taken."
The caps also can deter theft by notifying owners when their bottles were last opened, she added.
"Anyone who brings in drugs to the event, we will provide one of these great kits," Perry said.
The CRDC staff will be taking back drugs and handing out TimerCaps at the Jonesboro Police Department, 1001 S. Caraway Rd., and the Walmart Supercenter in Blytheville 3700 E. Highway 18. TimerCaps will also be available at the Pocahontas Walmart Supercenter, 1415 Highway 67S.
Perry said the CRDC has TimerCaps available to area law enforcement agencies and coalitions. Just call her at 870-273-2921 or email lperry@crdcnea.com.
