JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The registration for this year's NEA Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has now started and supporters believe this year's event will be the best one yet.
The race is at 9 a.m. on Sat., April 28, at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro.
A prayer, along with an on-site race registration and packet pick up event was held Wednesday at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. People have signed up to participate in the race, with the event helping just as many people.
Candace Cooper, who serves as the race co-chair for the event, said the second annual event in Jonesboro is important.
"So much money was awarded to Northeast Arkansas because of last year's race," Cooper said. "We want to keep that money here and increase it."
In addition to the race, several events will also be held Friday and Saturday in connection with the event.
People can pick up packets for the race on Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at NEA Baptist, officials said Wednesday.
The cost to register for the race is $30.
