Long-needed road repairs underway in Bono
BONO, AR (KAIT) - A Bono project, in the making for years, is finally underway.
Bono Mayor Danny Shaw said College Street will soon be wider and safer for pedestrians.
"It's one of the busiest streets in our city for vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic," said Shaw.
The city is enclosing ditches on both sides of College Street.
Crews recently started construction on adding sidewalks on both sides of the street and widening the roadway.
"All together we are going to do about 2,800 feet of College Street," Shaw said. "This first project goes down to Lenford Street, which is about 1,200 feet."
Shaw said multiple grants have allowed the city to move forward with the project.
Once the first portion of the project is done, the city will immediately finish the remainder of it.
It's too early to tell when the entire project will be completed.
