BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) - The Brookland Fire Department made surprise visits to firework stands on Tuesday.

Region 8 News followed behind to see if the owners of three firework stands passed the test.

Steve Beck, fire chief, inspected all three stands in Brookland city limits, including Super Sam's Fireworks.

"These are state fire code inspections," Beck said. "We make sure they are up to standards on state fire codes and the buildings are safe, tents safe for the public and fire safety."

Inside Super Sam's, Beck made his first stop where he checked the legitimacy of two state-certified fire extinguishers.

He then made his way around the building to find required "No Smoking" signs.

Next, he searched for the mandatory Arkansas State Police fireworks permit and the proper disposal of trash.

"They passed the inspection," Beck said. "They are in good shape, everything is where it needs to be."

All three firework tents and facilities got an A+ on the inspection.

"These are important," Beck said. "The smallest of problems could lead to an explosion. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy the holiday."
