WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - The sign at the entrance of Williams Baptist University now reflects the transition of the school from a college to a university.

According to a news release from the school, two signs have been installed in recent days to reflect the change.

The release states an illuminated sign was finished along Highway 67 at Fulbright Avenue in Walnut Ridge.

"After all these months of planning, the new signs make it seem very real to us that Williams is now a university," Brett Cooper, vice president of institutional advancement, said. "The excitement among our alumni and friends has been the most gratifying part of this phase, with social media photos of the new signs lighting up the Internet."

WBU announced in Sept. 2017 that it would begin the transition from college to university, with the change becoming official this summer.
