TYRONZA, AR (KAIT) - From math and science lessons to life skills like responsibility and teamwork, a 4-H project at Tyronza Elementary School is teaching kids about more than just plants.
Grants and community support have allowed the school to start a gardening project.
Kids in each grade will have a hand in maintenance and upkeep of the garden that sits right behind the school.
"The goal of the garden is to provide fresh produce for the community, and to also supplement our cafeteria program and then to also give real life lessons to our students," Principal Sandi Carroll said.
Carroll said they got the garden started at the end of last school year.
She hopes to have it as an ongoing project that could eventually grow into a small farmer's market.
