Fireworks Cause Scare at Blytheville High School

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - Police are maintaining a presence at Blytheville High School throughout the day after someone ignited a "large firecracker" this morning in the hallways of the campus.

Blytheville Police Chief Royce Carpenter told K8 News that the incident happened at approximately 11 a.m., causing minor damage to the floor's surface as well as some nearby lockers.  No one was injured.

The chief said the incident caused a few frazzled nerves at the school, and his department will keep a few officers on-campus for the rest of the school day.  Police arrested two students in connection with the incident this afternoon.
