Region 8 -- Finding a nice, quiet place to get away for the weekend is sometimes more of a hassle than it's worth. So we found two right here in Region Eight that show their guests just what Arkansas has to offer.
The Timber Ridge Lodge is located at Charlotte, AR just 15 minutes from Batesville. Nestled back in the woods, the lodge offers large suites with private baths and a view, large lounge areas, dining, game rooms, and a bunk house for the extras. Timber Ridge has three private ponds stocked with fish for year round use. Guided hunting packages can be purchased with the stay.
Bryan Henley, Manager of Timber Ridge, says they've got something different to offer than hotels or bed and breakfasts.
"It's a great place for people to get back to nature. We've got lots to do like hunting, fishing, hayrides, bonfires and weeney roasts. Here they may see a deer or turkey, something they may not see in their home states."
The Henley's are glad to accomodate the needs of anyone who stays with them. Holiday Parties, Company Retreats, Corporate Outings, Reunions, and Weddings and Receptions are welcome.
If you would like to schedule a reservation with the lodge, contact Bryan at 1-870-799-2004 or 1-870-799-8964.
Our next Getaway is found in Mt. View in the Ozark Mountains. At the back of the court square, sits a small bed and breakfast, The Wildflower. The B&B has 6 rooms, 3 of which are suites and 2 have private entrances without stairs. The bed and breakfast offers just that, a cozy room and a bountiful breakfast. The small-town, old-fashioned style of the place gives guests just what they are looking for as they get away for the weekend. But owner LouAnn Tanneberger says this one is a little different.
"We like to go by the motto, we accept children with well-behaved adults. We are very kid friendly, and welcome all families."
The bed and breakfast's location on court square is a plus when it comes to finding something to do.
"We practically have a festival every month. And you can walk to all of them. You can sit on the porch in the rocking chairs listening to great music, and smell the food cooking around the square. It's great to sit out here."
