Gas Prices Reach a New High

JONESBORO (KAIT) - Gas prices have risen once again. The new national average price of gas is now just below $5.50.

The highest recorded price of gasoline to date was in San Fransico at $3.88 a gallon. In Jonesboro, gas prices average around $3.39 a gallon.

At times like this, many people turn to ways of saving money at the pump. Watch out for false advertisers that claim of being able to help with better gas mileage. Reports have shown these products most of the time do not work as intended.

Some consumers are turning to hybrid cars. This is a great way to save money at the pump. Hybrid cars have proven they have a much better gas mileage than a regular made vehicle.

In fact, registration of new hybrid cars rose 38% in 2007.
