HOLLYWOOD, CA (KAIT) - In a new investigative report released this week stated that Sammy Davis Jr. was reported to have been a member of the church of Satan.

The report states that in Sammy's autobiography, Why Me?, he tells about his dealings with the church of Satan.

Apparently the Candy Man's barber was a member and invited him to join up. Sammy joined and attended the meeting full of alleged debauchery and women.

Davis states that his ties with the church were true but he was not too involved. However, Davis did make a pilot sitcom called Poor Devil in the early 70's.  It was a show about a demon trying to work his way up in hell.

The pilot failed to be bought by NBC because religious groups were against it.

Davis later left the church, but stated he still had friends who were Satanists.

Sammy Davis Jr. grew up a Christian, and then became Jewish by choice, then later a Satanist. After leaving the church of Satan, Davis returned to his Jewish beliefs.

Sammy Davis Jr. died in May 1990. He was 65 years old.
