Former pastor sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual assault

A former Craighead County pastor accused of sexual assault will spend the next decade behind bars.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A former Craighead County pastor accused of sexual assault will spend the next decade behind bars.

On Monday, Dec. 16, Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Scott Ellington sentenced 58-year-old Anthony Lee Strickland, of Bono, after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

In October 2021, Jonesboro police arrested Strickland on suspicion of rape and second-degree sexual assault.

According to court documents, the two victims claimed Strickland sexually assaulted them at his home.

Judge Ellington also ordered Strickland to register as a sex offender upon release.
