Nonprofit organization helps with adoption and bring awareness
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - November is National Adoption Month and we want to bring awareness to adoption.
K8 News spoke with Arrow Adoptions, a local nonprofit organization that helps expecting mothers place their children for adoption.
The nonprofit organization helps find the children the right fit for a loving home.
Executive Director Caleigh Parker said that this year the organization had their first yearly fundraiser earlier this month.
“This year we had our first yearly fundraiser and we had a sneaker soirée where we raised $8,000,“ Parker said. ”There at our soirée, we acknowledged different families that have adopted, we recognized birth moms and shared adoption testimonies.”
Parker also said that while there has been a lot of reform in recent years that has made adoption easier, there is still one big challenge.
“One of the biggest challenges that currently exists is the price in private adoption so of course it can range anywhere from across the nation from ten to fifty grand, however our goal and our organization is to keep adoption costs down,” Parker said.
Arrow Adoptions has been an organization since 2020 and Parker also has adopted children. She said she loves helping both expecting mothers and families looking to adopt along their journeys.
