Police pull over speeding ice cream truck whose driver was allegedly on drugs

TELL CITY, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) - Police in Indiana say a bizarre traffic stop landed the driver of an ice cream truck behind bars.

Officers with the Tell City Police Department say Sherri Pool was speeding while driving an ice cream truck Thursday on New State Road 237. When she was pulled over, the stop quickly turned into something more serious.

Police say they had probable cause to search the ice cream truck, inside of which they allegedly found methamphetamine, legend drugs, drug paraphernalia and other controlled substances.

Police also allege Pool was driving under the influence of drugs. An officer certified as a Drug Recognition Expert tested her on scene for possible drug impairment.

Pool was taken to the Perry County Jail, where she was charged with possession and operating while intoxicated.
