Paragould School District held topping out ceremony for new gym

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) -A major milestone for the Paragould School District’s new gym.

The district had a topping-out ceremony on Friday, Sept. 19.

It’s a centuries-old tradition that marks the placement of the final steel beam on a structure.

It also marks around the halfway point of construction.

Girls’ Basketball Coach Mitchell Weber said this is a celebration of the steps the school is taking.

“It means growth and change,” said Weber. “I feel like our older facility is just that, it’s older. It’s a little bit smaller, and the fact that we get to move into something that’s state-of-the-art and nice, just shows the progress and the growth of the school district.”

Weber added that they can’t wait to play in that gym for the first time.
