BROOKLAND, Ark. (KAIT) - Two Brookland sisters turned a desire to make a difference into a movement promoting kindness and inclusion throughout their school.

Brookland Middle School students Willow Brown and Scout Brown founded Blooming Beyond Bullying in October 2025 to encourage students to lead with kindness and help ensure that every child feels seen, valued and included. The organization drew more than 120 students to its first meeting and became one of the largest student-led organizations at Brookland Middle School.

Building a community through weekly meetings

Blooming Beyond Bullying has held 26 weekly meetings since its founding, providing students with a space to connect, build friendships, encourage one another and participate in activities centered around kindness and compassion.

Students participated in kindness initiatives, encouraged inclusion among their peers and helped create a positive school culture throughout the school year. Members also designed and built a Blooming Beyond Bullying float for the Brookland football homecoming parade, sharing the organization’s message with the larger community.

From school club to published book

The mission of Blooming Beyond Bullying expanded beyond the school walls when Willow published a children’s book. Her children’s book, “Blooming Beyond Bullying,” was inspired by the same message that launched the organization and encourages young readers to choose kindness, support others and remember that they are never alone.

The book has reached readers across the country since its release. The message of Blooming Beyond Bullying has also spread through social media, where content focused on kindness, encouragement and inclusion has reached hundreds of thousands of viewers.

“Blooming Beyond Bullying was created to remind kids that kindness matters and that everyone deserves to feel like they belong,” Willow said. “We hope it encourages people to look out for one another and choose kindness every day.”

Expanding the message

Willow, who was recently crowned International United Miss Arkansas Preteen 2026, and Scout, who was crowned International United Miss Arkansas Jr. Preteen 2026, hope to use their platforms to continue expanding the reach of Blooming Beyond Bullying through community outreach, youth leadership and kindness-focused initiatives throughout Arkansas and beyond.

Blooming Beyond Bullying is taking a break for the summer while celebrating a successful first year of impact. Plans are underway for the organization to return in the fall with new opportunities to continue promoting kindness throughout the school and community.
