Today in History: May 28 - ‘A Face in the Crowd’ released in 1957, filmed on location in Piggott, starred Andy Griffith and Lee Remick

(KAIT) - On May 28, 1957, A Face in the Crowd, a 1957 movie drama based on the short story “Your Arkansas Traveler,” written by Budd Schulberg, was released.

It’s opening scenes are set in Northeast Arkansas, and it was filmed on location in Piggott, using local residents as extras.

The film marked the screen debut of Andy Griffith and Lee Remick, along with Walter Matthau and Tony Franciosa’s first major roles.
